It is time to reemphasize the traditional methods and measurement courses within our education system. Business still needs to know how long it takes to produce its products and provide its services. Business still must schedule work through the facility; business still must maintain appropriate inventory levels; business still must determine a fair day\'s wage for a fair day\'s work; business still must measure how effectively it uses its resources; and business still must determine how much it costs to produce each product or each service it produces. We cannot do this without trained, qualified engineering personnel.

a. Do you agree with him? Why or why not?

b. Take a devil’s advocate point of view and articulate reasons why he may be wrong

Solution

a. No, I am not agree with the author. Because eventhough we re-emphasize the traditional methods and measurement courses within our education system, the qualified engineering personnel has to be trained on site/field/plant.

b. The author may be wrong because the engineers will get to learn all the mentioned things like a fair day\'s wage, inventory levels, production cost only if they are well trained in the organization. Because practical knowledge is very much important. So, it is not necessary that only if the traditional methods are replaced then only they can do this effectively.
