The water pressure on a scuba diver is directly proportional
     The water pressure on a scuba diver is directly proportional to the depth of the diver. If the pressure on a diver is 22.5 psi when she is 50 feet below the surface how far below the surface will she be when the pressure is 40.5 psi? The diver will be feet below the surface.

  Solution
Given water pressure on a scuba diver is directly proportional to the depth of the diver
So Pressure P = k*d
k = constant
d = depth
k = P/d
Given pressure on a diver is 22.5 psi when she is 50 feet below the surface
k = 22.5/50 = 0.45
When P =40.5psi
d = P/k = 40.5/0.45 = 90 feet
She was 90 feet far below the surface when the pressure is 40.5 psi
