Solution

ANSWER:

Yes, alcohol has tendency to increase violence. Currently alcohol is responsible for more deaths and personal destruction in comparison to any other known substance of abuse, alcohol is easily obtained, legal and supported by a multi-billion dollar worldwide industry. Alcohol acts as a dishibitator to release violent tendencies because when people drink alcohol they can put them at greater risk of losing their temper; and narrows the focus of attention and provides a tunnel vision. As a result they misjudge the behaviour of other people and misread social cues, consequently leading to confrontations with others who are acting aggressively

Alcohol weakens the mechanisms of brain which restrain impulsive behaviors, including inappropriate aggression. Due to the impairing information processing, alcohol may result a person to misjudge social cues, thus leading to overreacting to a perceived threat. Simultaneously, a narrowing of attention can result to an incorrect assessment of the future risks of acting on immediate violent impulse behaviour.

Children are also affected by witnessing the violence at home. It increases the risk of children being neglected, assault, abused, and emotionally damaged. Alcohol also features chiefly in domestic violence suicide and murders. Women are more likely to experience alcohol-related assault from a partner or spouse.

Overall, alcohol is only good if kept controlled, it helps people bond, and is a method that has been around for a while to gain people unwind, however there are problems that are preventable that can happen, and because it’s preventable we can bring out the best in alcohol.
