1) x +2y = 10 ----(1)

   x -y = 4 ----(2)

Subtract the two equations:

3y = 6 ; y =2

x = 4+y = 6

Solution ( x, y) = ( 6 , 2)

2) 2x +3y = 4 ----(1)

   x -y = 2 ----(2)

Multiply equation 2 by 3 and add to equation 1

2x +3y = 4

6x - 3y = 6

x -y =2 ; y = x-2 = 5/4 -2 = -3/4
