Triangle ABC has vertices A (6,1), B (2,-9) and C (-8,5). Answer the follwoing questions.

a) Find the length of side AB (found it, AB = sqrt 116 )

b) Find the Angle A to the nearest degree

c) find the length of the median from the vertex C.

Solution

a)AB =116 = 10.77

BC =17.2

AC = 14.56

b)using cos rule

cosA =[AC^2 +AB^2-BC^2]/2AC*AB =0.1025

hence angle A = 84.16 degrees

C)mid point of AB =(4,-4)

hence length median = 15
