Each employee receives one year of seniority as of December 31 of each year.
An employee hired on March 15, 2015, will accumulate one year of seniority as of December 31, 2015.
In the following table, construct the formula in cell E11 to be copied down
to determine the number of years of seniority which each employee had accumulated as of May 1, 2016.
Last Name First Name Dept Date Hired Years of Seniority
Jones Emma Acct 14-Jan-92
Spiegel Ralph Invent 21-Aug-05
Smith Nathan Mktg 18-Apr-14
Myers Ruth IS 12-Feb-15
Roques John IS 10-Apr-16

Solution

Suppose the Date Hired entries is in column C then in column D cell D2 write the formula for taking out only the yeear of joining =RIGHT(C2,2). Extend this formula to entire column D for the correspodning column C cells and only the last 2 digits will be present in column D; Now in column E (which is years of seniority write this formula)
=(IF(E2<\"17\",15-E2,115-E2))  Extend this formula to entire column E cells for the correspodning column D cells.

In column E you will get the years of seniority of each employee

Each employee receives one year of seniority as of December 31 of each year. An employee hired on March 15, 2015, will accumulate one year of seniority as of D
