At the top left of the screen (screenshot is shown below), under ‘Search Hurricanes By’, select ‘Location’ tab. Start typing Miami and select ‘Miami, FL, USA’ from the dropdown menu. Enter ‘60’ in the box below Location tab. Check the tiny box next to ‘Show Search Area’. Now click on the ‘Advanced Filter’. This will open a new pop-up box. Under Category, uncheck all boxes except H5, H4, & H3. Hit ‘Apply’ and close the box (top right). Press the search icon. [Note, hitting ‘enter’ or ‘return’ key on your keyboard will not trigger the search]. The new page will show a circle around Miami with a 60-mile radius along with tracks of 17* hurricanes that have made landfall (or passed through) this region during the 1842 to 2015 interval (i.e., during the last 174 years). *red arrow is pointing to ‘Results’ that provide number of hurricane that passed through this region for the selected region.
