An integer n is a four-digit number, and 6 is a factor of n. Three of the digits of n are 1, 4 and 6. What is the greatest integer that n could be?
Solution
the greatest integer n that is 4 digit and contains 1,4 and 6 is 7614,
we have just applied hit and trial method
the unit place digit cannot be 1
and when we take 9614 or 8614 it is not divisible by them and the next number in sequence that contains 6,1 and 4 is 7614 and it is divisible by 6
so, n=7614
