ISEN 465 Facilities Design Due Date February 27 2017 Problem
     ISEN 465 Facilities Design Due Date: February 27, 2017 Problem 3. Consider the following machine-part matrices that result after applying the Direct Cluster algorithm. For each matrix: (a) Identify one possible of machine families, and (b) corresponding part families. set P6 P1 P5 P3 P4 P2 P5 P4 P2 P1 P3 P6 M3 MT 1 1 M1 M5 M3 1 1 1 1 1 M4 M2 M1 M5 M2 1 1 M6 1 1 1 M7 M4

  Solution
Answer -
First checking the clustered Matrix;
For First Matrix
Since the Matrix is not in the order it must be reordered and again checking for clustering.
Reordered Matrix and check for clustering;
Since the Matrix is again not in the order, it must be reordered and again checking for clustering.
Reordered Matrix and check for clustering;
Now the matrix order is same, the matrix is properly clustered.
From the above matrix we can identify the possible set of machine families and corresponding part families for the first matrix.
The same procedure can be adopted to identify the possible set of machine families and corresponding part families for the second matrix.
