Thermodynamics 2 If the pressure of a substance is increased
Thermodynamics 2

If the pressure of a substance is increased during a boiling process, will the temperature also increase or will it remain constant? Why?
Solution
When the pressure of the system is increased then temperature for boiling decreases.
Take for example a cooker, when we cook rice in an open vessel then it is at atmospheric pressure and boiling point of water of water is 100 degree centigrade. Cooking rice in a pressure cooker is quick because the pressure inside the cooker is increased and the boiling temperature decreases therefore it takes less time to cook in a cooker than in an open vessel.
