A truck is traveling over a hump in the road at a constantly changing speed of -2.0 m/s^2. When the acceleration of the driver is 0.3 g and the radius of curvature of the hump is 98 m with the driver sitting 2 m above the road, what is the speed of the truck?

Solution

centripetal acceleration

          a = v2/ r

         v = sqrt ( r a )

            = sqrt ( (98 m ) ( 0.3) ( 9.8 m/s2 )

          v = 16.97 m/s
