Calculate the cell potential for the following reaction as w

Calculate the cell potential for the following reaction as written at 73 °C, given that [Cr2 ] = 0.837 M and [Sn2 ] = 0.0100 M. Cr(s)+Sn2+(aq) <-> Cr2+(aq)+ Sn(s),

Cr2+(aq) + 2e– → Cr(s) =-.91,

Sn2+(aq) + 2e– → Sn(s) = -.14

Solution

Cr2+ + 2e- ---> Cr E1 = -0.91V

Sn2+ + 2e- --> Sn E2 = -0.14V

E0 = 0.91-0.14 = 0.77V

E = E0 - (0.059/2)*log[Cr2+]/[Sn2+] = 0.71327

 Calculate the cell potential for the following reaction as written at 73 °C, given that [Cr2 ] = 0.837 M and [Sn2 ] = 0.0100 M. Cr(s)+Sn2+(aq) <-> Cr2+(a
