Mentoring refers to the guiding someone in his or her pursuit by showing the right path, offering problem solving ideas, improving morale of the mentee and helping the mentee in his or her difficult moments. A mentor always shows the belief in the abilities of the mentee and never let mentee to drift away from the main path of work. It brings different benefits to the mentee. The first benefit is the able and experienced guidance by the mentor who already knows the challenges and makes the mentee, aware of it in advance. For example, a budding entrepreneur gets guidance in preparation of project report and become aware of the teasing questions being asked to him by the investors. Here, a mentor helps him ready to answer and come through by becoming stronger. Other benefits are moral support, help in building network as well as use of existing network by the permission of the mentor.
In all these processes, the mentor also gets the benefits. The first benefit is the degree of success achieved by the proposed ideas as a part of mentoring services and inner satisfaction achieved by the mentor. It is the intrinsic benefit that satisfies the highest level of need of recognition. The other benefits are growing popularity among the students, budding entrepreneurs and other mentees and self-belief in his own abilities to mentor someone and help them succeed. So, mentor and mentee both look at each other for benefits, but with a different perspective.

My teachers question
Please respond to the following....
Reverse Mentoring is defined as \"a process where the older employees learn from the younger employees.\"
GE under Jack Welch practiced this.
Do you think there is a place for Reverse Mentoring in today\'s businesses? Substantiate your response.
Solution
Answer: Yes I feel that reverse mentoring is possible in today’s business scenario. The reverse mentoring refers to the phenomenon in which the young employees mentor the old ones. The young employees bring new skills and competencies like the digital technology skills. The older employees can benefit from these skills and learn latest skills about which they have little knowledge. The millennia’s at the workplaces are now helping the baby boomers and the generation X employees to learn new technologies like the use of social media and the crowd funding. As the technology is advancing at a rapid pace and the older employees are finding it difficult for them to keep pace with the new developments therefore the young employees who are well versed in such developments can play an important role in dealing with this issue. Hence there is a wide scope of reverse mentoring in today’s business and the companies can effectively use it for their own advantage.
