See pago Question (1 point) 1st attempt lhdl See Periodic Table O See If 1495 J of heat is needed to raise the temperature of a 355 g sample of a metal from 55.0 to 660°C, what is the specific heat capacity of the metal? 5 OF 10 QUESTIONS COMPLETED 10/10

Solution

1) T = 66 - 55 = 11

mass of metal , m=355g

Heat added,q= 1495J

C = heat capacity of metal

q = m ×T×C

C = q/m × T

= 1495J/355g × 11°C

= 0.383J/g.

Therefore,

Specific heat capacity of metal = 0.383J/g

2) Heat absorbed by water is q

q = m×T×C

= 150g × 8.5 × 4.184J/g

= 5335J

5335J heat is given by metal to water

For metal

q = m × T × C

5335J = 30g × 98 × C

C = 5335J/30g × 98

= 1.815J/g

Therefore,

Specific heat capacity of metal = 1.815J/g

3) Kinetic Energy ,K.E = 1/2mv2

where,

m = mass,69.0kg

v= velocity, 5.00m/s

Therefore,

K.E = 1/2 × 69.0kg × (5.00m/s)2

.   = 863 kg m2/s2

Therefore,

Kinetic Energy = 863 kg m2/s2

4) CH3CH2CH3(g) + 5O2(g) ------> 3CO2(g) + 4H2O(g)

Exothermic process because heat is released in this reaction.
