A leader was overheard telling his managers that they should, as a rule of thumb, write someone up at least once a day in their job. His explanation was that it helps to motivate them and keep them from slacking off. Do you agree with this tactic? Why or why not?

Yes it will be very helpful. Rule of thumb means practices based on the experiences rather than the theories. Writing something on the paper will prioritize the things to do in their job. It will also facilitate in not forgetting the task. This is the reason the employees have a sign board on their desk to write the priorities. Writing someone up will motivate the employees to be like him. It will work like standards that the employee want to achieve. So in my point of view it is motivating to the employees.
