For the gear train gears A through H shown below calculate t

For the gear train (gears A through H) shown below calculate the output speed and direction of rotation of the output shaft if the input shaft rotates clockwise at 1750 rpm. Note that horizontal lines denote the shafts.

Solution

Let clockwise be +ve and counter clockwise be -ve.

Gear A = 1750 rpm

Gear B = 1750 * 20 /46 = -760.87 rpm

Gear C = -760.87 rpm

Gear D = 760.87*18/38 = 360.4 RPM

Gear E = 360.4 RPM

Gear F = 360.4*18/27 = -240.27 RPM

Gear G = -240.27 RPM

Gear H = 240.27*18/30 = 144.16 RPM

For the gear train (gears A through H) shown below calculate the output speed and direction of rotation of the output shaft if the input shaft rotates clockwis
