6:49 PM o AT&T; 99% 5. Find the equation of the line satisfying the specified conditions (b) passing thorough (-3,4) and (-5,6) (c) slope of 0 and passing through (-2,5) (d) x-intercept of 3 and y-intercept of 2 (e) passing through (-3,5) with an undefined slope.

Solution

c)

It is far easier to remember that any line with a zero slope is a horizontal line and has the
form
y=b

The value for b will always be the y coordinate for the given point.

answer is y=5

D)

an x intercept is where the line crosses the x-axis. That means y’s value is always 0. So the ordered pair for our x-intercept is (3,0)

y-intercept is where the line crosses the y-axis. That means x’s value is always 0. So the ordered pair for our y-intercept is (0,2)

slope= y2-y1/x2-x1

        =0-2/3-0

        = -2/3

put the slope and one point into the point/slope equation. Note that you can use either point to plug in as long as it is a point that the line passes through. I chose to plug in the point (3, 0)

   y-y1= m(x-X1)

y-0=-2/3(x-3)

3y= -2x+6
