Lean techniques are least applicable for radical innovation as it involves a very less success rate compared to other forms of innovation. All lean techniques are aimed at eliminating or reducing waste, saving costs, mistake proofing and continuous improvment all of which have a different ideology compared to radical innovation. Radical innovation requires enough space to develop as opposed to lean ideology. Incremental innovations can use lean techniques like Kaizen which is continuous and incremental improvements.
