What is required to become a Project Management Professional?
Solution
If you are talking about the PMP certification, then the eligibility for that are - educational background, project management experience, and project management education. For any other query, please revert!
For education, one can have both a regular (4-years) or a secondary degree/ diploma.
The project management experience requirement will vary depending upon the degree you have. If it is a regular (4-years) degree than the experience required is of 3 Years (36 Months) with hours of leading directing being 4,500 hours, and otherwise, for a secondary degree/ diploma, the respective requirements are 5 Years (60 Months) and 7,500 hours. The experience must be non-overlapping, cumulative across all process groups, and within the last 8 years of the PMI PMP application date.
[During the application process, all details of the project led must be given including - Project Title, Start Date, End Date, Project Role, Primary Industry]
35 hours of project management education s required for all who want to apply and for that the PMTI has an online course.
[The detail of project management education will include - Course Title, Institution Name, Course Start Date, Course End Date, Hours, Qualifying Hours].
Then the fee is to be paid. Having met all these requirements, PMI will let you know that you are eligible for the PMP examination (within 5 days of the application submitted). Once you have passed the exam, you get the PMP credential for the next 3 years. To retain beyond that period, you need to earn additional 60 PDUs (Professional Development Units).
