7x 2y 26 3x 4y 16Solution7x2y26 eq 1 3x4y16 eq 2 Multipy

{7x + 2y = 26 3x - 4y = 16

Solution

7x+2y=26 eq (1)

3x-4y=16 eq (2)

Multipying the coefficient of x of equation (1) by equation (2) and multiplying the coefficient of x of equation (2) by equation (1) we get,

3*(7x+2y=26)

7*(3x-4y=16)

21x+6y=78 eq(3)

21x-28y=112 eq(4)

Now subtracting eq(3) and eq(4) we get,

21x+6y-(21x-28y)=78-112

21x+6y-21x+28y=-34

34y=-34

y=-34/34

y=-1

Now substituting the value of y in eq(1) we get,

7x+2*(-1)=26

7x-2=26

7x=26+2

7x=28

x=28/7

x=4

Hence the solution of the equations are x=4 & y=-1.
