Consider St. Vincent Millay’s “The Buck in the Snow.” Discuss how she uses the following elements in her poem: stanza format, personification, color, and punctuation (particularly in the last 4 lines) to give us a picture of nature and what happens when man “interrupts” this world.

over a short twelve lines , the poet mourns then philophisizes over the realism of death which frpresents sin, vice pain death , and everything imperefect in the world.The imagery and diction chosen suggest a sorrowful mood that matches the mournful prayer of the speaker. however there is a pensive tone in the third paragraph.

-In the first line, Millay does a wonderful job at using the word bowed, to allude to a weapon commonly used to kill Bucks.

-In line six, there is beautifully written alliteration

-the tone throughout the beginning of the poem is gentle and calm. However there is a major shift hit in line 8 where the poem takes a darker tone.

-line 9 shows a wonderful comparison between death of a human and a buck. It is beautifully written and allows a perfect parallel in the poem.

-Line 14 has great alliteration that gives a beautiful feel to a dark image. It gives it a musician ship and a flow to an otherwise sudden and chaotic event.
