Convective heat flux from human body Calculate the average c

Convective heat flux from human body:

Calculate the average convective heat flux from a bare body when the average skin surface temperature is 33°C, the surrounding air temperature is 20°C and a gentle breeze is leading to a heat transfer coefficient on the skin surface of 50W/m 2 ·K.

Solution

solution:

1)convection is mechanism of heat transfer between body and surrounding due to relative motion between them and capacity of convective heat transfer per unit area and per unit temperature difference is given heat transfer coeffiicent h.

2)amount of convective heat transfer is given by newtons law of cooling and it is as follows

Q=h*A*dT

where heat flux is amount heat transfer per unit area

q=Q/A

so heat flux from body is givena s

q=h*dT

Tbody=33+273=306 K

Tair=273+20=293 K

q=h*(Tbody-Tair)

q=50*(306-293)

q=650 watt

3)amount of heat loss per unit area of body is equal to q=650 watt and it is calculated as above.
