Hiring and promoting from within is often seen as a positive
Hiring and promoting from within is often seen as a positive motivational tool. It can be argued that there is a negative side to this practice. Outline five potential negative aspects of promoting employees from within an organization. Be sure to explain your reasoning.
Solution
1. Revitalization: Promoting the employees within the organization will not bring anything new to the organization and the organization should work with the same set of ideas and values as it was with you before making a promotion.
2. Limit the growth: The process of internal recruiting will limit the skills to the same level and it can pose danger to the organizational growth and development.
3. Internal competition: To compete within each other for a promotion or for a better position may ruin the internal atmosphere of the company and may create conflict within the organization.
4. Counterproductive: Internal promotion may create a situation of conuterproductiveness within the employees and employees will be pressured.
5. Reduce morale: The promotion given to one person may reduce the morale of the other working employees and also the employees will then be focussed on facing competition rather than being proficient at their own task.
