The purpose of the wick is to ensure that the chamber is saturated in the vapors of the eluting solvent. Cut or tear a piece of circular filter paper in half and position one of these semicircles around the inside wall of the eluting chamber. You can cut the rest of the filter paper to a smaller size so that you can place a small piece on the bottom of the chamber to stabilize the plate.
