Explain why the irreversible inhibition of trypsin by AEBSF
Explain why the irreversible inhibition of trypsin by AEBSF follows pseudo first-order kinetics rather than second -order kinetics.
Solution
The irreversible inhibition of trypsin by AEBSF follows pseudo first-order kinetics rather than second -order kinetics because the concentration of AEBSF with respect to trypsin is so high that the concentration of AEBSF will remain constant in the reaction. Therefore, the rate of the reaction will be independent of the change in concentration of AEBSF and the reaction will behave as first order reaction which is also known as pseudo order reaction.
