The second line of defence is a group of cells, tissues and organs that works together to combat the infection. It is a nonspecific resistance that destroys foreign pathogens in a generalied waywithout targeting any specific individuals. For eg. phagocytic cells ingest and destroys all the microbs that passes into he body tissues.

Second line of defence includes phagocytosis, inflamation, complement pathway, NK cells etc. and these are the main components of this kind of defence.
