Solution

The purpose of using blank spaces in spectrophometry is to ensure that your readings are correct. In spectrophotometry we use a spectrphotometer to set a particular wavelength. The blank allows you to set the spectrometer to zero before you measure your unknown solution ie., a reference(BLANK) is needed to zero(calibrate) the spectrometer.

Control treatments are used as a base line to measure while blanks are used to ensure our readings are correct as we dicussed.
