2. Describe how natural selection might operate to change the genetic makeup of a population of rabbits if a new, faster predator was introduced into their habitat.
Solution
Very simple, Natural selection define that fittest will survive under environmental/natural conditions. That ability to survive in harsh condition will pass on to their next generation. Not all the changes in the organism affect the survival for example eye color of human. Some changes in animals help them to survive for example if rabbit runs faster it means that chances of survival will increase under the influence of predator.
Any Change in population because of natural condition will transfer into their offspring by method of gene transfer. These changes cause the change in frequency of gene in population.
If new predator introduced into habitat it will show the negative on population. Initially It will decrease the number of rabbit. After natural selection few of them will able to survive. And that feature/gene will pass into next generation.
