Let us understand this with an example. A survey has been conducted to under the increasing cases of throat cancer. Study reveals that 70% of the throat cancer patients are male and 30% are females. 40% are of age group 25-35, 30% are of age group 35-45 and 30% are of age group >45. Researcher can draw conclusions that as males consume tobacco more, they are more prone to throat cancers.
