Identify the vertex of the graph of the quadratic function f

Identify the vertex of the graph of the quadratic function. f (x) = (x + 2)^2 - 3 The vertex of the quadratic function is the point. (Type an ordered pair.)

Solution

f(x) = (x+2)^2 - 3

standard equation of parabola in vertex form is

f(x) = a(x-h)^2 + k

where h,k is the vertex

comparing the two equations we get

h = -2

k = -3

vertex is ( -2 , -3 )
