What group of proteins associated with DNA could be describe
Solution
Histone is the answer for this question!
Histones are the proteins which are present in eukaryotes and are used to wrap the long linear DNA in to compact structure called nucleosome. There are many types of Histones like H1,H2A,H2B,H3 and H4. H1 acts as a linker histone in which it can be used to link all other histones in its octamer form so these histones are having more positively charged amino acids like LYSINE or ARGININE, because we know that the backbone of the DNA is negatively charged so that positively charged histones can bind to it and can form nucleosome which is used for formation of the chromatin structure of the chromosome.
Other uses of the Lysine and Arginine are there which are mainly used for acetylation to lysine which induces to form euchromatin rather heterochromatin.
Euchromatin means the eukaryotic DNA is available for the DNA replication or transcription etc
Heterochromatin means the eukaryotic DNA is NOT available for the DNA replication or transcription etc.
