1Write a balanced chemical equation for each of the followin

1)Write a balanced chemical equation for each of the following reactions

a)Sulfuric acid with magnesium

b)Hydrochloric acid with magnesium

c)Hydrochloric acid with sodium thiosulfate to produce sodium chloride, sulfur

dioxide, water, and elemental sulfur (S).

d)The decomposition of hydrogen peroxide to water and elemental oxygen.

2) For each procedure (A to D) make a hypothesis as to what effect the tested variable will have on the rate of the chemical reaction.

Please and thank you!

Solution

Ans 1 :

Start balancing the reactions by writing the skeletal reaction in the molecular form. Then equate the number of atoms on the left to the ones present on the right.

So the balanced reactions are given as :

a) H2SO4 + Mg = MgSO4 + H2

b) 2HCl + Mg = MgCl2 + H2

c) 2HCl + Na2S2O3 = 2NaCl + SO2 + S + H2O

d) 2H2O2 = 2H2O + O2

1)Write a balanced chemical equation for each of the following reactions a)Sulfuric acid with magnesium b)Hydrochloric acid with magnesium c)Hydrochloric acid w
