Using u substitution Find the real solution(s) of the equation x - 3x^1/2 + 2 = 0

Solution

x - 3x^1/2+2=0

Let x^1/2=u

Therefore x=u²

u²-3u+2=0

(u-1)(u-2)=0

u=1 , 2

Substituting back the value of u

x^1/2=1    or     x^1/2=2

squaring both sides

x=1   , 4
