The tires of a bicycle have radius 11.0 in and are turning at the rate of 230 revolutions per min. See the figure. How fast is the bicycle traveling in miles per hour? How fast is the bicycle traveling? mph

Solution

Circumference =2pi*r=2*3.14*1.10=6.908 inches

In one revolution it covers 6.908 inches

And the bicycle covers 230 revoutions per minutes= 230*6.908 inches per minute=1588.84 inches per minute

                                                                                        =1588.84*60/63360 miles per hour

                                                                                    = 1.5miles per hour

 The tires of a bicycle have radius 11.0 in and are turning at the rate of 230 revolutions per min. See the figure. How fast is the bicycle traveling in miles p
