In no more than 100 words, address why you think there has been (and still is) such strong opposition to the trade union movement by American business management and how this opposition affects the aviation industry.

Solution

The basic reasons why American business management opposes trade unions can be explaied as follows:

1. Trade unions are restrictive to the effective ways of functioning. Once any deal is against the union, the union might as well resort to armtwisting measures to get things done its way.

2. Trade unions also increase cost for the company, by forcing companies to pay out more in terms of pension and employee benefits.

3. Trade unions sometimes effectively acts in dire opposite to the companies goals of maximizing shareholder\'s wealth, by creating roadblocks in effective labor utilization and resource allocation.

In addition to the issues metioned above, the biggest issue with the airlines industry is the unionization of pilots.Since, pilots are the lifelines of an airline industry ,and that only qualified pilots are allowed by the FAA to fly the planes, any strike of the pilot unions effectively causes a shutdown to the airline\'s operations, thus severely affecting the company\'s top line.
