Describe two major forms of network switching, and what are their advantages?

Switch occupies the same place as hubs in the network but the processing of packets from source to destination is different compared to hubs. There are basically four types of switching techniques that can be seen in the network to transmitt the data or simply packets from source to destination out of which two are most important

1. Circuit Switching

2.Packet Switching

In any techinque the data is broken down into small packets.The packet Switching technique has two methods DATAGRAM , VIRTUAL CIRCUIIT.

ADVANTAGES:

  1.Using packet switching the cost effect and the size of memory even reduces.

2. Multiple users can access the network at same time.
