There are four types of segmentation, which are demographic, geographic, psychographic and behavioral. When a business is able to segment a market on the basis of needs, but unable to demographically or behaviorally identify the segment, then the business will survive for a short term only. The business would be able to fulfill the needs of their customers for a shorter span of time, but it requires proper strategy and segmentation to be done to sustain and be succeed in a long run.
