The organization you work for is developing a new product. Review the characteristics of each project management structure and identify the one that most resembles your current employer (a past employer, or an organization you have volunteered for, or a school who have attended will also suffice for answering this question). Describe the responsibilities of the project manager in the organizational structure selected. Discuss how project work in handled in the structure selected.

Here we can say there are 3 types of project management structure :-

1 - Functional

2- Project - based

3- Matrix

FUNCTIONAL STRUCTURE:

Under this we can devide project in its different functional criteria or units which works accordingly. Each functional area is managed by different functional unit\'s expertise or team.

Hence, it have its own advantages n disadvantages. Thus project manager is solely responsible for the co-ordination between them.

PROJECT-BASED STRUCTURE:

Under this the teams are basically formed totally based on the kind of project to be done , that is , it is basically creation of an independent team which is taken or formed by separating from it\'s parental structure. In this the project is the solely responsible by himself.

MATRIX STRUCTURE:

Matrix structure is basically the hybrid form , formed upon functional structure team and project-based team , who do have their own managers . So in this in Functional matrix the powers resides with it\'s manager and in Project based matrix structure the powers resides with its sole manger And in Matrix structure powers are equally distributed.
