200 mM NaC 90 mM Glucose 40 mM NaC 200 mM Glucose 12 Calcula

200 mM NaC 90 mM Glucose 40 mM NaC 200 mM Glucose 12. Calculate the osmolarities of the two solutions.

Solution

So, according to above theory:

Osmolarity of solution A :- [ 40mM Nacl + 200mM glucose]

(1) Osmolarity of Nacl = 2 * Molarity of Nacl solution

Here, for 40mM Nacl solution

Osmolarity of 40mM Nacl = 2 * (40 * 10-3)

= 80 * 10-3 osmol/litre

And Osmolarity of glucose =1 * molarity of glucose

Here, for 200mM glucose

Osmolarity of 200mM glucose = 1 * (200 * 10-3 )

=200 * 10-3 osmol/litre

So, Osmolarity of solution A = osmolarity of Nacl solution + osmolarity of glucose solution

=  80 * 10-3 + 200 * 10-3

= 280 * 10-3 osmol / litre

we can write , = 0.280 osmol / litre

(2) Same for solution B [ 200mM Nacl + 90mM glucose]

Osmolarity of solution B = osmolarity of Nacl solution + osmolarity of glucose solution

= 2 * (200 * 10-3) + 1 * (90 * 10-3)

= 490  * 10-3 osmol / litre

= 0.490 osmol / litre

200 mM NaC 90 mM Glucose 40 mM NaC 200 mM Glucose 12. Calculate the osmolarities of the two solutions. SolutionSo, according to above theory: Osmolarity of sol
