200 mM NaC 90 mM Glucose 40 mM NaC 200 mM Glucose 12 Calcula
Solution
So, according to above theory:
Osmolarity of solution A :- [ 40mM Nacl + 200mM glucose]
(1) Osmolarity of Nacl = 2 * Molarity of Nacl solution
Here, for 40mM Nacl solution
Osmolarity of 40mM Nacl = 2 * (40 * 10-3)
= 80 * 10-3 osmol/litre
And Osmolarity of glucose =1 * molarity of glucose
Here, for 200mM glucose
Osmolarity of 200mM glucose = 1 * (200 * 10-3 )
=200 * 10-3 osmol/litre
So, Osmolarity of solution A = osmolarity of Nacl solution + osmolarity of glucose solution
= 80 * 10-3 + 200 * 10-3
= 280 * 10-3 osmol / litre
we can write , = 0.280 osmol / litre
(2) Same for solution B [ 200mM Nacl + 90mM glucose]
Osmolarity of solution B = osmolarity of Nacl solution + osmolarity of glucose solution
= 2 * (200 * 10-3) + 1 * (90 * 10-3)
= 490 * 10-3 osmol / litre
= 0.490 osmol / litre
