Distinguished name and Relative Distinguished Name : Like say if we are talking about any entry and needs to identify it uniquely then the identifier which identifies it uniquely is distinguished name where as Relative Distinguished is a component of the distinguished name, its relative to its parent.Take an example of phone number , a phone number is unique but when only number then unique to its local , if added area code then unique to area, it country code is added then thats the complete path of it and it would be called the distinguished name of it and the one which are defined as local, area are relative names.
