Problem Studies You are the American manager for a division of an American company that produces medical products. Your division is located in a small town in Southern Germany. The Supervisor of the day shift has been with the company for 6 years and is respected and liked by the management of the company. However, he is known to have strong opinions which are unpopular in Germany. One day he brought in an old Nazi flag and tacked it on the bulletin board. Most of his co-workers were incensed. Some demanded his immediate dismissal. What would you do?

As the American manager for this company it is important to remind the supervisor of the day shift that having a strong opinion about a political ideaology is the personal choice of the supervisor . The political ideaology shared by the surpervisor should not mainifest in the work place in the form placing an old Nazi flag and tacking it on the bulletin board. Therefore the supervisor should be personally told that he must not resort to such actions in the future and the supervisor must be given a firm warning that such actions invite serious actions from the company , which may lead to termination of the supervisors employment . The supervisor must be kept under observation for a considerable period of time and see such actions from supervisor do not repeat again .
