Communication is essential for proper functioning of each part of an organization. In an organization, the role of supervisor is to act as a link between the management and the employees. It is the supervisor who is responsible for understanding the vision, strategy, and work processes specified by the management and further ensuring that the workers perform their jobs accordingly. Communication plays a vital role in helping the supervisor perform his tasks effectively.
A supervisor should be able to communicate horizontally as well as vertically. He needs to understand the goals, strategies, and tasks provided by the management and further communicate this to the fellow supervisors and the employees/workers. Communication would help him in performing the mentioned tasks. In addition to this, supervisors are also responsible for the monitoring, review and performance management of employee. Supervisors needs to guide and train the new employees as well as existing employees. All these tasks require effective communication skills.
