The United Nations Human Development Index httphdrundporg ra
The United Nations Human Development Index (http://hdr.undp.org) ranks countries by per capita GDP and by \"human development\" based on health, education, and income. Access the most recent Human Development Index and find the U.S. ranking. Discuss specific scores/rankings and consider the following questions. Why isn\'t the U.S. ranked higher on this index? Where do we perform poorly? (Hint: Access the other reports and find the U.S. values for areas included in the Human Development Index).
Solution
Inspite of being the wealthiest nation across the globe, USA failed to grab the opportunity of being in the top 5 of the HDI and in the recent rankings, it got to rank in the 10th place where Australia is the first. The HDI is mainly based on four factors namely life expectancy, education, and per capita income where the per capita income and the life expectancy are a bit on a low node and this is the result due to unemployment inflation and national policies. Therefore, if we can rise the employment scenario and provide better health, we can always tend to improve and these are the areas where we perform quite poorly.
