Please Explain well!!!
A constractor has 8 suppliers from which to purchase electrical supplies. He will select 3 of these at random and ask each supplier to submit a project bid. In how many ways can the selection of bidders be made? If your firm is one of the 8 suppliers, what is the probability that you will get the opportunity to bid on the project?
Solution
a)
Order does not matter here, so we use combinations.
Hence, there are 8C3 = 8!/(3!5!) = 56 ways to select bidders. [ANSWR, 56]

b)
If you are one of those selected, then you have 7C2 = 21 ways to choose the othr 2 companies.
Hence, the probability of you being chosen is
P = 21/56 = 3/8 [ANSWER]
