Let ( x1, x2 , --- xn) represent the point on the sphere

Given x12+ x22+-----xn2 =1 to find the maximum of the product [ x 12 x22 ---- xn2]

this is the extension of the problem x+y =1 find the maximum of the product xy

Product = xy P(x) = x( 1-x) { as x+y=1 => y=1-x}

P \'(x) = 1- 2x =0 => x=1/2

P \'\'(x) = -2 hence the point x= 1/2 gives the maximum value of the product

when x=1/2 , y=1/2 { as x+y=1}

hence the maximum product of xy = 1/2 x1/2 = 1/4
