For a commercial riding lawn mower, what would be the best way to purge air/vapors from the fuel lines when starting? Specifically for a dry start situation.

The system layout is [tank] -> [piston pump] -> [pressure regulator] -> Electronic fuel injection system. I am looking for the best way to purge the air from the lines. Thanks!

Solution

Vapor lock is a problem that occurs when the liquid fuel changes state from liquid to gas while still in the fuel delivery system. This disrupts the operation of the fuel pump, causing loss of feed pressure to the carburetor and to fuel injection system. All these factors result in transient loss of power or complete stalling.Restarting of engine becomes difficult.

vapor lock can be avoided by:

Installing insulation on the fuel lines of a vehicle

Adding a vent to the engine compartment

Insulating the fuel pump with specialty blankets designed to keep the temperature cool, reducing the risk of overheating.

Installing Install a Low-pressure Electric Fuel Pump near the Fuel Tank. This will keep the fuel moving through the lines even if the engine compartment heats up
