NSAIDs comprise of large group of chemicals that have analgesic ,antiinflamatory and antipyretic properties . they are used in a wide variety of conditions starting from fever,cold to arthritis.

They are classified as non steroidal antiinflammatory drugs usually prescribed to treat less severe type of pains resulting from varied conditions.

They act in the system by hindering the formation of compounds called prostaglandins which play an important role in body\'s inflammatory response. they block an enzyme called cyclogenase which help in the reactions responsible for the production of prostaglandins.

High doses of NSAIDs and long term use may produce side effects.NSAIDS interact with some other drugs and long term usage of the drugs lead to the development of ulcers.

NSAIDs may reduce the benefit of drugs used for treating hypertension as they may increase blood pressure.

They lead to the toxicity of lithium and methoxate by decreasing their elimination and reduce the actionof diuretics by reducing the blood flow to the kidneys.

They increase bleeding by decreasing the activity of blood platelets and hence the formationof blood clotswhen used along with other drugs like warfarinwhich alos increases bleeding and enhance the complications of bleeding.
