The distance s that an object falls is directly proportional
The distance s that an object falls is directly proportional to the square of the time t of the fall. If an object falls 16 feet in 1 second, how far will it fall in 5 seconds? How long will it take an object to fall 64 feet?
Solution
Assume S= cT2 relationship between distance and time
first case
S = 16 feet and T= 1sec
so c = 16 ft/sec2
for T=5 sec
S= 16*25 = 400 ft
second case for S=64 ft
T= S/c = 64/16 = 4 sec
