A radioactive substance decays in such a way that the amount of mass remaining after t days is given by the function m(t) = 12e^-0.015t where m(t) is measured in kilograms. (a) Find the mass at time t = 0. kg (b) How much of the mass remains after 50 days? kg

Solution

given mass ,m(t)=12e-0.015t

(a) at time t =0

mass ,m(0)=12e-0.015*0

mass=12*1

mass =12 kilograms

(b)after 50 days, t =50

mass ,m(50)=12e-0.015*50

mass=12*0.47236679

mass =5.7 kilograms
